You can't even carry in your own house in Canada without getting arrested.

I'd suggest you do some googling for Canada's specific gun laws.

I'm gonna bet you're stuck to bolt actions.

They can have handguns, but its a PITA and they have to be over a certain length.
So pretty much only full size, no compacts.

    In a nutshell:

Guns are divided into restricted an unrestricted.
Rifles that have 18.5+ barrel except the AR15 are unrestricted
Rifles under 18.5, handguns, AR15's are restricted.

You need a PAL to get unrestricted, RPAL for unrestricted. Prohibited licenses are pretty much unobtainable. Also a hunters course if you wish to go hunting.

    Semi-Rifles are capped to 5rnd
    Pistols are capped to 10rnds
Rifles using Pistol magazines are capped to 10rnds (I.e the berretta CX4, AR15 using RRA pistol AR mags)
    Non-semi rifles have no limit.
Beltfed before a certain date(i forget) have no limit.

    No import ban
    No SBR laws
    No silencer
    No carry

You can keep an Unrestricted weapon in your car as long as its not visible and loaded.

Oh and theres this annoying gun registry.

storage rules suck, as do laws pertaining transporting your restricted/prohibited to a range/show/shop

All good info, additional stuff off of the top of my head
Restricted: you require an 'Authority to transport' letter from the RCMP anytime you transport a restricted weapon.

A pistol must have a barrel length over 4 inches to be considered restricted, 4 inches or less and it's prohibited.

In addition to barrel length, certain firearms are named as restricted, ie AR-15 no matter what the barrel length it is always a restricted weapon.

The steps to getting licensed and obtaining a firearm are:
take a course and pass a test, theres one for long guns and a separate one for hand guns
submit application to the Feds for a PAL license. This license allows you to purchase guns and it is required to be shown when you buy ammo.
If you're going to get a pistol you must be a member of an approved gun club / shooting range before you can purchase

    No AKs in Canada? WTC?

Restricted = no possibility of owning? That sucks.

Restricted in Canada means you can own it, but good luck actually getting that clearance.
Prohibited means you can't own it, no matter what. So they're basically the same thing.

There are three levels of firearms in Canada

Non-restricted - meaning you can take that gun (most of long guns) hunting if you want to, can have it in the car if you feel like it and so. the laws for storage and transportation are not as strict, transfer time is a lot faster

Restricted - handguns and ar-15, not as hard to get as u make it seem, but must get an autorization to transport and can only transport it from your home to the range or a gunsmith (a few other legitimate purposes as well) storage and transportation laws are more strict, but most people go above and beyond them anyways....

Prohibited - meaning the government banned those firearms, for one reason or another (full auto, easily concealed, and for looking evil) cannot import anymore of those firearms into canada, BUT if you had a firearm of that kind before the ban came into effect you are grandfatherd and may possess, buy, sell, shoot those firearms. handguns with barrels under 4" are prohibited, .25 and .32 are prohib, full autos, AK variants, certain other rifles, shotguns and handguns banned for basically being too evil in the eyes of the anti's

this is just the basics... correct me if im wrong

p.s. handgun magazines must be capped at 10 rd, semi-auto rifles must be pinned at 5 rds, except rimfire.
