    Is it really next to impossible to enlist with the US Marine Corps or any branch for that matter for a Canadian?

    Planning on getting my green card and than join the US Marines but I'm hearing it's pretty pointless. :wtc:

    As long as you have a green card, you should be golden.

    You don't even need a green card I thought. I thought you could join the military and after a certain number of years in service, you were automatically eligible for your green card and didn't have to go through the same as others do.

    That's for citizenship, not getting your green card.

    You need to be a legal resident alien, so you don't necessarily need your green card but I don't really know of any other ways you could be a legal resident alien without one.

    Jason, you dont even have to have a green card, just a form saying that you applied for one. How do you think all of those illegal aliens join the U.S. military

    Marines = Hunters
    Army = Hunted

    I put this into perspective in another thread awhile ago about how the Marines seem to be always on the offensive while the army gets stuck doing checkpoint bullshit. I'd rather be the hunter than a sitting duck. Atleast I'd like to know what I'm going after instead of waiting all day long to be attacked.

    But aside from that it seems the Marines out of all the regular infantry in the army seem to be getting a shit load of the action from what I hear.

    Now when I talk about the marines I wanna see how further I could go (Expeditinary force./ etc, sp?).

    But on the flip side I wanna jump from planes, have some fun, and do grunt work. I'll do infantry all the way. But something with some sort of Special Forces opportunity that insolves Air-Assault.

    Of course Special Forces guys watched them jump in and land in the mud :bowdown: I think it was 10th SFG(A) up in the north. Regardless I would still be scared having to jump in like that not knowing what was going to happen. We have quite a few guys here at SWCS that made that jump but none of them really talk about it.

    true. :naughty:

    i had an e-6 in my platoon here that was on the jump. he said there was like ZERO resistance on the DZ, just farmers and such, they did encounter some stiff resistance as they entered the nearby towns and such though

    The first conventional force in Iraq was the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.

    I did numerous searches to find out who the first in Baghdad was and there is nothing about 3ID or any Marine units, they all say "U.S. coalition forces" so it is only right to assume both Marines and the army were in there together.

    The Army 3rd ID and the Marine 1st Expeditionary Force both advanced on Baghdad from different directions. But it was the 3rd ID that first entered and captured Baghdad.
