I had a box of S&B (50rds) in my trunk and water soaked up the box and brass. The ammo is discolored but S&B states that the primers are all sealed. What could happen if I use it?

The absolute worst thing that would happen would be your gun would explode, killing you and everyone around you instantly.

Not really, it should be fine to shoot as long as it hasnt been sitting underwater for a long peroid of time. The worst thing that will happen is it won't go off when you shoot it.

Once it dries completely, it should be shootable.

worst that can happen is a squib where the gun fires but the bullet does not make it out the barrel. If it squibs and you try to fire another round behind it you will fuck up your barrel big time. Most likey it just won't go bang.

If the primers are sealed then you should be OK but I would only use it as practice ammo.

    Yeah it's only practice ammo.

Worst thing I can think of is that some of them won't shoot. It's not like water is going to increase the explosive yield of the powder or weaken the brass or anything.

I've seen ammo where the brass has corroded to the point where I imagine its weakened and I wouldn't shoot it. A discoloration from getting damp a couple times is fine.

The wolf that was in the trunk had slight surface rust but didnt appear to be enough to effect the case integrity. Was shooting it out of the SAR anyway worse come to worse bend the top cover back into shape stomp on the receiver a couple times to get the bulge out then keep shooting

Chuck Norris used his powers to create forcefields around each individual round, keeping them dry
Chuck Norris laws do not apply to mortal men

Squib....... AKA 'Pop no kick' if you have been in the army. Saw a beretta assplode from firing after one at the Camp Bonneville range. If you get that pop no kick, clear the weapon best you can and don't fire until that round is out.

No military has ever fought a war where they had to deal with water.

When you get a squib, do you push the round out muzzle end or breech end? I suspect going the muzzle end would be difficult while going the breech end would be easier. But then forcing something down the barrel in wrong direction seems incorrect....

Squibs suck. I got one in a S&W .357 before. We just stuck something non metal in the end of the barrel and knocked it out with a mallet.

Fired off maybe 20 rounds today. Only a few went off without a hitch. Most would either give me a stove pipe or not push the slide back (not even a little). I got tired of doing a field strip to check the barrel so I just shot my other ammo.

sounds like the primers were sealed but not the bullets and the powder got wet.
