Can you use a WAP to allow a wired router to convert to wireless?

I was just trying to go through the tedious task of purchasing a new wireless network setup and so far, I don't really like any of the routers that I've ended up with. I would like to maintain my wired Netgear router and I was wondering if it were possible to add a Wireless access point to one of the wired ports on the back of my router to enable me to add a wireless device like a PDA or Laptop to my network without requiring the purchase of an entirely new router.

    Thanks.

Add a wireless access point or get a wireless access point/router and replace your netgear router.
