This is a bunch of my stuff, not all but a lot. Maybe you can critique and tell me what you think. Sorry about quality, my scanner doesn't do a good job scanning prints. I used photoshop to get them as close as possible to the actual print but couldn't get them exact. The color ones I've obviously used photoshop alot to change the colors. Colors on film just seem to be very dull and lifeless.

Here is a couple from a Street Photography series I did. I have to get the patience to sit down and scan, edit the rest.

My camera's light meter was broken so I was guesstimating the settings on this trip. Unfortunately the background got washed out.

    some good stuff there:bigthumb:

me likey. however, as nice as that is to hear, it doesn't help you very much, so i'll take a stab at the critique part.

#1. i like this one a lot, but would also like to see it from a slightly different angle, to cut out that second frog in the background - which would be tough to so and keep the kid's face.

#2. i really like b&w for this shot. and i'm a bit jealous b/c i could never take it, b/c i really don't feel comfortable shooting people.

#3+4. i like the feeling. not that it would be better, but would be curious about different time of day.. see what kinda shadows u'd get. looks like a great place to shoot.

particularly fond of the "money shot" and the grafiti ones below it.

the "love never dies" shot is interesting, and i'll bet there's a lot to do there... is that in a cemetary by any chance? maybe horizontally framed w/ a wider angle lens... keep that as the main focus of the shot, but let us know what's going on a little more.

that's all i got right now. again, not trying to pick on your work, but you asked for critique, so i figured i'd share a few ideas. i hope they help:)

Thanks for the comments and suggestions

Thanks, I really liked it to but the blown out background kind of annoys me.
That trip was the first and only time I've taken pictures of people. By some miracle that has been my most succesful trip though. Out of two rolls I got like 8 photos that I really liked. Still have to scan the others..
I wasn't that comfortable shooting people either, especially just random people on the street. But I found I got alot more comfortable after a while of walking around and blending in. I can't wait to get out and do it again, street photography is my favorite style, but don't have alot of time to go do it myself.

Yeah that's in a cemetary. Unfortunately there isn't really much else there that would add to a photo.

    my fav's.

got some good things going there. My FAVORITE subject matter is the old, the decrepid, the worn out, junk. The aslyum, WOW. Old rusted broken equipment, I love it. The b&w woodsy paths, wow.

He didn't "let me" take his picture, he didn't even know I took his picture.

  17. dam he musta been out of it

you better watch out if you do that again, some bum might get pissed off and unleash some madness next time. Oh and if you don't have them sign a release if you ever try to profit off their pictures and they find out you could quickly find yourself in his shoes :noes:
