I'm new to Mail. I used to use Entourage, but can't seem to continue use of that with AT&T U-Verse. It won't accept the smtp setting for some reason.

One of things I really liked about Entourage is that accounts were viewed in completely dedicated windows. So, when I wanted to check my email I had to "switch identity" and it would bring up just my email. Same with my wife. We had complete, private control. We could manage our inboxes and trash with secure privacy and couldn't look at each other's stuff.

Now, with Mail, both of our accounts are in the left column and are completely accessible. Is there a way to bring autonomy to each account like we're used to?

How do you set up a different user account?

I went to Mail>Preferences>Accounts, hit the "plus" at the bottom, and set up each account. Aren't those different user accounts?
