I got invited to a party tonight at Delano, a hip South Beach hotel. I've been out of the scene for so long I have no idea what to wear - it's about 90 degrees and humid here, so kinda hot to be wearing jeans... but do people wear shorts to parties?

What would you wear if you were going? Pics would be appreciated. Oh, and fwiw, I'm a 32 year old guy, 6' 195. Big shoulders, not fat, but not skinny. My style is 'tropical casual' when it's not business, but neither of those styles will work tonight!

Can you recommend a brand of really light jeans? Because the ones I wear (Diesel, Guess, 7 and Boss) are too hot in 90 degree weather, even at night.
Trust me, if I could dress like that I would, I love that style. But the 80s are long gone :wtc:

Lightweight pants... suggestions? Most of my lightweight pants are khaki, and I'm not a fan of wearing khaki at night.

I do have some lightweight slacks in grey, navy and khaki that I got from Boss in the spring but they're really more business-wear than going to a South Beach hotel, I think.

ya im thinking white linen pants, a black silk or light-weight button down, and some black loafers would look just fine. Very Miami, classy but not too formal, and would work in warm weather. The only thing with that look is it's kind of a generic Miami look, so you probably wouldn't be the only guy dressed like that.
But hey it's fool proof :dunno:

OK, I dug out a white linen guyabera (button down short sleeve) [IMG] with tan 'jeans' from Banana and tan suede Bruno Magli loafers that kinda look like this, only a bit lighter:

Accessories - my Carier Santos watch [IMG].

I'm pretty happy the way it all looks but I kinda feel like the tan pants and tan suede shoes look too much alike, no contrast. And I feel totally devoid of color :hs:

Yeah, that doesn't work in most cities, but in Miami at the Delano where everything is white or sand, you could definitely pull it off.

As always when I was there last night the Europeans looked fantastic and the Americans were wearing shorts and polo shirts with bad collars :mamoru:

Just as a side rant, we were drinking outside at the pool/beach area and it was so dark that when I paid the bill I added a tip, not noticing that it had already been included   so I ended up tipping $45 on a $105 tab :o but it's all good, if you throw some money around over there the servers treat you like royalty and ours had set us up with nice beds and lounges when we got there, so the extra cash didn't really bother me.

Trouble with the linen suit is the jacket - no matter how cool you look, it's still 90 degrees and humid, and no one in their right mind is wearing a jacket, even linen, in that weather. Maybe it works in movies but not in real life.
