    My good friend left to asia for 3 weeks and left me his 1DS so I thought I'd see what kind of difference I would see between my 1d classic and 20D

    I used a Canon 50 1.4

    exposure was: iso 200 1/80 f/1.4

    All three are shot RAW with +3 sharpening in canon DPP then resized. No cropping. Center point AF on eye.

    Can you tell the difference?

    ding, ding ding!
    these guys are right :bowdown:

    Not sure exactly how you can tell the difference cause I really can't tell. DOF and Bokeh look so similiar to my untrained eyes. Makes me realize I still have no need for a fullframe camera like a 5d or 1ds :mamoru:

    LIES! :hsd:

    You can tell a difference in the perspective of the shot.

    #2 exif says:
    By-line = Karin Schrik00EOS1D\F0FU0079.JP

    Not that I'm really saying you're lying.

    Question though, did you move the camera between these shots? There are a couple of things that change in each photo. the distance of the wine bottle on the right, to the side of the porcelain dude, the angle of the line on the counter and the amount of the wine bottle neck you can see in each.

    I judged using the DOF between the eyes and the tassel, taking into account the framing.

    I can also distinguish the bokeh banding of the 1D classic from a mile away since that's what I currently shoot with. :mamoru:

    hahaha, it is a 1DS, I can post the photo with full exif but seriously, is there a point?

    I did move the camera between shots cause these were all done handheld from different distances, with the 1dS being the closes and the 20D being the furthest. So i am sure that my angles changed to.

    bottom line for me was to see if I could notice any difference between the two with my untrained eyes. and to be honest, without looking at the exif I can't tell so I don't feel a need to upgrade to full frame

    What is this bokeh banding you speak of? I haven't heard of it, can u please point it out to me?

    1d is an amazing camera eh? I love the fast sync speed and the extreme sharpness of each pixel

    Look at the noise patterns in the OOF areas. They form horizontal and vertical lines.

    It is an amazing camera. I love mine. 4MP of fury!

    Easy. I assumed you were using a tripod and looked at how wide all the shots were compared to the others.

    Wide = 1.3 1D
    Widest = 1.0 1Ds
    Tightest = 1.6 20D

    Where is my prize?

    I can tell them apart. I looked at bokah, best and smoothest on FF. Then the others it was just a question of compression of background.

    Same thing as shooting over or below 50mm...

    Bokeh on the FF is soooo much smoother then the 1.6, but you can see the FF has more distortion in the corners.
