I am about 2 minutes away from picking up a 9mm subcompact in the total black finish.. (blued, i suppose).. some people have been saying stuff about the slide rusting.. but i dont know if it's just an anti-xd smear campaign or what..

    thanks :o

Don't oil it and it will rust; oil it and it won't.

All I can say is I have carried one of my 2 XDs IWB against skin every day and no rust after a year. I also treat them just like any other parkerized/blued gun in that once every two weeks I wipe them with a cloth with silicone spray on it just to clean them off.

Neglect it and it will rust. Take the minuscule effort to maintain it and it won't.

Grip safety is why I like the XD's...

I might be the owner of both soon so I'll be able to compare how I like each gun though.

Just an extra passive safety that won't allow the gun to be fired unless someone has a good grip on it. There have been ADs on glocks caused by something being caught in the triggerguard (like a holster strap) in the past so with a grip safety, that won't happen unless it too is depressed.

It gives some police depts. that don't allow Glocks because of the above another option.

And now the only way the gun will fires is if someone has a good grip on it. There is less chance of something accidentally catching the trigger and having it go off.

mine hasn't rusted. Get some armadillo by blue wonder and put it on the gun if you're worried. You could store it underwater with that stuff and it wouldn't rust.

    Seriously.

Why spend more money and risk your gun blowing up?

You should mention if you neglect any gun you will have problems with it, I wouldnt say rust is such a problem no to buy a gun when it wont happen if you take care of it.

    No thanks:mamoru:

My sarcasm took over. But armadillo is great stuff. There is no reason to worry about your XD rusting if you take care of it.

:werd: I despise grip safeties, they are just another pointless "feature" on a gun to break, just like a loaded chamber indicator :greddy2:

Usually when you have a good grip on the gun... you know where it's pointed. It is definitely a positive feature. What does it matter if it's there? You don't even notice it when you're shooting. And I haven't ever heard of the grip safety on an XD breaking..... or the loaded chamber indicator.

I think Glock lovers just can't accept the fact that there is another gun out there just as good... or dare I say better than their beloved glocks.

Some cop got shot in the leg because his thumbstrap got caught on the trigger. Guess thier PD supplied them with cheap holsters. :dunno:

As for the rust, I've had my XD for almost a year without any problems.

And EVERYTIME you ask a question about an XD, you're gonna hear from Glock owners that it's a POS and vice versa. But Glock owners tend to talk more shit than XD owners. Me, I've never shot a Glock so I can't judge. It's just preference though. For instance, my friend's first handgun purchase was a Glock. He praised it, always talking about it. One day while at the range, he rented an XD and ended up selling his Glock to his grandpa and buying an XD.
