I'm thinking about getting this Kirk L-bracket for my D50:

But I don't see how it works when you move it to the vertical position..how is it held onto the tripod head?

You have to have a quick release head that will fit the place. Is it Arca Compatible?

    Edit** Its Kirk.

Or should I just skip the l-bracket, save myself $70 and just get a quick release plate? :dunno:

How much vertical shooting on a tripod with heavy lenses do you do? That answers the question.
