GUN Can someone educate me on the differences between skeet, trap, and sporting clays?

I shot a lot in college at our range but I have no idea whether it was trap or skeet :o

Also, there is a huge gunshow next weekend up in Dulles and I am going to pick up a shotgun. Do I need to get a relatively modern gun to be able to change the chokes for trap/skeet/hunting? The reason I ask is because I lust after an old Ithaca side by side but I think those are not adjustable chokes like a modern gun.

This is my new favorite forum on OT :o

Sure would be a shame to cut up an old Ithaca. I picked up one from an auction that my dad wanted. Took some time and looked at it. Beautiful guns.

I don't think I could modify an old gun...if I could confirm that I could shoot trap and skeet with it, I'll def. try to pick one up.

Up to $600 for the right gun, I have no interest in a new gun, and prefer a simple old one.
