Does anyone use this? Is it even worth it?

A friend of mine told me about this site. So last night i went on and got DesktopX, Icon Packager & Windowblinds and have been playing with them. Some of the widgets are really frickin cool too.

I'm having some problems trying to get them to work though. After i installed Windowblinds and restarted i got the windows couldnt start correctly with the options, but when i selected the start windows normally it gave me a win95 style taskbar.

I would really like to get this working because looking on the site this looks pretty badass. Need to find a different icons package than the one i got though because all of mine look the same.

I had installed DesktopX, then Icon Packager, then Windowblinds.

I use windowblinds with objectdock, and they work flawlessly together on my build.

I don't know if maybe you could have a conflict somewhere with icon packager and desktopx.

When you got to the win95 style toolbar, that meant that windowblinds was
    turned off somehow.

To turn it back on, you just go into start > programs > windowblinds, and open it back up and choose the skin you want to use.

I downloaded quite a few skins for windowblinds. I've got over 80 in the program folder. I mostly use the aero/vista style ones.

There's a really cool christmas themed one that I ran with during the holidays.
On the start menu, it had snow falling from the top.

the one problem i have is, when i download files i dump them onto my desktop, but with windowblinds/desktopx i lose every single icon on my desktop unless i turned them off.

i've seen alot of cool shit, and i think it'd be a nice way to tweak my pc if i can get it to work

oh and my quick launch bar disappears too

When you open up windowblinds from your program menu, it will look something like this, depending on the version you are running.

All you have to do is click on skins at the upper left, then scroll through your skins using the slide bar at the bottom. Then click on apply changes to your left, and it will change everything to that skin.

If you are using the commonly found "hacked" version, it won't work.

You have to find a better copy. Trust me on this, I tried. :mamoru:

Find a copy of windowblinds 4.6

    Oh, and check your pm's.

Right click Start > Taskbar tab >
put a check in "keep the taskbar on top of other windows" >
    apply and exit.

(while you're in there, you can uncheck "group similar taskbar buttons",
if you want a seperate tab for each window you have open)

I'm not sure about desktopx, but normally what you do if you don't see your desktop icons is you right click the toolbar and select show desktop.
