Just installed Firefox and its features is 97% just like Operas, Opera is also cleaner looking. Firefox also uses 13 more mb of memory.

well how is opera better besides mozilla?

I think mozilla was around before opera, but I could be wrong.

Its just a theme, and there a ton more if you dont like the mozilla theme.

opera is so dang smooth, mouse gestures work everywehre, not just for webpages.
it has a browser/email/news/rss/gestures/tabs and all kindsof other stuff in like 3 mb
    firefox alone is 5.

oh and what features did opera steal and from whom?

Opera is the best web browser there is. I tried switching to Phoenix (now called Firefox) when it came out, and followed its progress, but it never rose to Opera's glory. Firefox did end up implementing a lot of features Opera had. I believe Opera was the first to have tabbed browsing, it has mouse gestures implemented, it had a download manager, an integrated mail system, etc.

Unfortunately, my friend no longer cracks my Opera for me, so I can't get "Opera 8" just yet.

Exactly, using Opera is just smooth and fluid, it just becomes an extension instead of an annoying object. When I use Firefox, everything is jerky, and less effective. The mouse gestures are hard to pull off, you have to reach up for the tabs, the browser itself takes a few seconds to load up, etc.

who cares about file size. i understand its a factor but it really doesnt matter.

considering mozilla has a ton more other plugins that you cant get on opera and more support for themes that enough for me. does opera have a calender too?

its still all based on the gecko platform that netscape, mozilla and opera use. plus some others I can't remember. I think safari uses gecko platform too.

tabbed browsing and dhtml injection to name a couple...

I really like Opera though. I'd use it if it weren't missing so many features I enjoy in Firefox's extensions.

It probably is the best overall browser though

well that was a LONG time ago.

why dont you try the newest version of mozilla?
    http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

who ever was the first doesnt matter either. gates was the first in alot of things but that doesnt change any thing about their quality of their product today.
mozilla doesnt have intergrated email, I wonder how integrated it is though. I kinda like having a seperate program/window for email.

The problem with both email programs is that still wont sync up with any of the mobile phones if you are on a pc.
thats the only reason im running office '03 to sync with my blackberry.

im not trying to be a jackass, I just want to know why its the best overall browser?
    under what criteria?

for me mozilla is fast, has the plugins that I need "web dev plugin, linky" and a few others i cant remember. then its the "best" for me.
its all relative on what you need.

I have Opera (the non ad version and not a crap Beta with the forced BT) installed right now, used it for ~2 weeks and it was the worst internet experience I have ever had.

I am much happier Firefox, Opera has gone in the completely wrong direction from a couple years ago.

better security, more stable... its just a more polished browser than Firefox is IMO.
Its just not as configurable and extensible which I love in Firefox

Opera is the best made browser. I've never had any problems, and everything is so clean and smooth.
