Can I use an ATX PSU with a Micro ATX Mobo?

Cuz the mATX PSU's are just :ugh:
They're around 200W mostly. Found like 2 that are 250W. Idunno...
They are CHEAP though. Like $30.

i don't know anything about micro atx, but i assume that they would use the same mainboard power connector.. no sense in changing such an accepted standard.

    That's what I was wondering.
I know it would be hard to fit in the case because the ATX PSU is physically bigger than a mATX PSU.
    I bought a Fortron Auror 350WPSU for $60. http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/psu-29.html
It's supposed to be really quiet. It looks really nice too. :big grin:

I think the power spec is the same between ATX and mATX.

Absolutely no problem using a full sized psu with a micro board. I've done it many times at work.

    Nice!!!
Well I hope it fits in the case. If not, I'll just ghetto-fab something up to make it fit. :big grin:

Yeah the micro boards are exactly the same as full atx except they're shorter because they're missing the extra PCI slots. I've seen lots of micro boards sold inside full ATX cases. Good luck getting a full sized power supply inside a micro case though. There's no extra room in there for a power supply that's probably 50% bigger.

That's a mATX PSU in there. I'm hoping that an ATX PSU won't be alot longer than that. Wider and taller is ok. Having a LiteOn CD drive would make the fit a little easier too.

We have a normal-size machine at work that has a short PSU, so it might be possible to get such a thing :dunno:
