Can I hook up my dvd player to an extra monitor?

What adapter would I need? I have an extra Dell monitor and the old man gave me a 5.1 surround system so hopefully I can put two and two together.

EDIT: It's standard 17" dell CRT monitor with VGA output.

DVD player is just the typical hook up to your TV via RCA inputs.

I was in a rush to get out, sorry.

If your monitor has an input that corresponds to one of the outputs on the DVD player, then the answer is yes. HDMI from the DVD player will plug into DVI on the monitor with the proper adapter or cable.

yeah you can if you buy a converter card that takes the dvd signal into a computer then the computer outputs it on the moniter. as far as I know there is no way to go from rca to vga.
