Im stuck on dialup, so some downloads take a while and I dont want to tie up the phone.

Is there a program that I can run on my web host that I can tell it what to download and have it use some my hosts bandwidth, and I can download it from my host when I feel like it.

If not, how hard would this be to write, say using php or other language?

My host has space and bandwith, along with php, perl, cgi, ......

    Thanks

Hmmm... but you would still have to fetch the information from the web server - how do you plan on doing that? There are programs that will schedule downloads though so you can tie up the phone at night

Hmm... Unless you're looking for a good scripting project (which this actually is - in my opinion), I'd go with an app that will automatically download to your PC when you decide to schedule it.

You could create a PHP (or whatever) script to fetch the item you want downloaded (and depending on what tools your ISP has provided with PHP, you can simulate an FTP client or even a browser). Or you could just get away with fopen() (see php.net for details). As long as you have enough web space, there's no problem doing this.

If you can run wget on your host then you should be able to start that up through a cgi script and let it run.

Sure you can. Do you have shell access? If so you are all set.
