    I'm 5 10" and about 230

How many calories(approx) would i burn with a 30min or 1 hour walk?

Does lifting weights(dumbbells) burn many calories/or help me lose weight?

    Thanks

walking is a waste of time. If you want to lose weight, you need to get a more intensive cardio workout. Combined with proper nutrition that you track daily, the pounds will come off...

But to answer your question, 30 min of walking ~ moderate pace 150 cals. I can bust out 500 cals in a 30 min run easily... Intensive weightlifting for the same duration ~230. These are according to calorieking, and obviously they are effected by your weight age among other factors, and I dont take these figures as the be all end all science, but you wanted an answer you got it. And FYI... 3500 calories burned or reduced from your diet = 1 pound lost provided your diet is stable and your not intaking more calories than you need. So hypotetically, if you walked 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, you might lose 1 pound a month provided your diet is in check and is at maintenance. More than likely, that wont happen, so now you see that your 30-1hr could be better spent lifting weights and running for a shorter duration.
