i'm having trouble matching subs --> amps.

in my bronco i can fit 6.5's up front and 6x8's (or 5.25's) in the back.

i previously had infinity kappa's in front and polk ex's in the back, run off a PPC powerclass 450 amp.

they're all in need of replacement.

i want a single 4-channel amp to power the speakers, but i'm having trouble matching an amp's output to the speaker RMS powerhandling.

i.e. some have 75W rms, some have 130W rms, and the amps have like 500w.

    how do i do this?

don't worry about it and put what you like in there. chances are good you won't have any problems with a 500w 4 ch amp

should i be trying to get closer to each speaker's max RMS?

or if the speakers can take some more than what the amp puts out, i can crank the amp up a bit more?

You will blow more speakers by underpowering them an cranking them up than by over powering them. Good clean power > maxed out dirty/stretched out power ie. underpowering..

if it was me id just do this:

if the front speakers were 70 rms id probably run an amp around that same power or a little more powerful, you can have a high powered amp just so long as you dont deicde to turn it up way too much and something blows. id run 2 2-channel amps, one for each set.

if ur running a 500 watt 4-channel amp just dont turn up your gains too high and if u can hear the speakers distorting/unordinary sounds as you turn it up you know uve gone too far.
