I have a very old, very good stereo system I got um, maybe 15 years ago, or more. I have a Bose 1801- Preamp, a Pioneer amo/tuner, a Sansui turntable (yes I still play vinyl), an Aiwa double cassette deck, a Tobshiba CD player and Audiosphere Research speakers. My question is, can I hook up my computer to the stereo? I have downloaded a lot of good music and my computer speakers make everything sound awful. I don't want to go thru the hassle of burning CD and stuff.

Yes, you need a minijack (headphone) to RCA cable. Run it from your line-out on your sound card (if it has it, otherwise just do the front speaker output) to a line-input on your preamp (probably aux would be good). Set your output volume on the computer to about 80% and then use the preamp to adjust things from there.

In case you'd like something better than radio shack I make custom cables. If you're interested: [email protected]. If not, that's cool too.
