I want to use a small soft paint brush to dust off some of the components in my computer. Can I do this safely without damaging anything, compressed air just doesn't do a good enough job sometimes.

    is it safe? usually.

    is it neccessary? no.

are you a crazy mofo? yes.

If compressed air didn't get it off, it's prolly not gonna be an issue, so just leave it.

I agree, i've dealt with 7-10 year old servers that i needed to dust out, if the compressed ait doesn't do it it's probably caked on and a soft brush wouldn't even help. Best advice i can give you if it is in fact your machine is to dust it out once a month to avoid dust/dirt from caking on to your PC parts.
