I've had my new desktop for like 3 weeks now and i'm trying to clean up stuff to keep my cpu running good.

I got Vista Premium and there is this thing on there that is called Google Destop.

WTF is that? I don't want to delte and and something on my desktop stops working

Yes, get rid of Google Desktop. It constantly searches your files so you can ask it to find them really fast, but that also means it's constantly using CPU power. Windows Vista has a built-in indexing program anyway; Google's is still better, but unless you're a completely disorganized mess who saves shit in whatever folder happens to be open at the time, you can use your brain to find files quickly.

Post a list of the programs installed on your machine and we'll tell you which ones aren't worth keeping. You can also watch us fight over our opinions about those programs, too.

(I guarantee someone will tell you Microsoft Office is a piece of shit that you should delete.)

You could replace Adobe Reader for FoxIt PDF http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
It's a lot smaller and works just as well. Loads a lot faster well.

The only thing some people "complain" about is that FoxIt does not open the PDF within browser. Personally I found that annoying more than convenient, I'd rather the PDF open in it's own program.

Holy crap!! Roxio installs all of that?!? Yeah, get rid of it. Nero is much better, it installs a lot of programs too, but doesn't list each one.

As for the rest; if you use keep it, if you don't then kill it.

I do prefer Open Office to MS Office and Real Player Alternative to Real Player. I'm not saying to get rid of what you have, just informing you to other options.

    Okay, here's my list:

    Replace:
WinRAR with ZipGenius (ZG reads a ton of formats, including .ISOs, and it's freeware)
Adobe Reader 7 with Adobe Reader 8 (bigger numbers are better than smaller ones)
BitTorrent with Azureus (BitTorrent is less full-featured than Azureus)

    Remove:
Google Desktop (Windows Vista already has an indexer)
Dell System Customization Wizard (Dell crapware)
Documentation & Support Launcher (more Dell crapware)
Internet Service Offers Launcher (even more Dell crapware)
Games, Music, & Photos Launcher (oh look...more Dell crapware)
Spybot (you already have McAfee SecurityCenter)
NetWaiting (only useful if you have dialup)
    URL Assistant (wtf is that?)
ViewPoint Media Player (adware that comes with AOL Instant Messenger)
Microsoft Works (you already have Microsoft Office, no need for this)

deusexaethera actually meant to say, "replace BitTorrent with µTorrent." (http://www.utorrent.com).

    :hsugh: Real Player

Also, don't "delete" these, "uninstall" them.
