I am going to play poker tonight in a Casino in Tampa..can I carry?
no, they serve alcohol
I just can't be in a bar..the main purpose of the area needs to be the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises.. I can be in a restaurant and order beers at the table (let's say at Chili's), but I can't go into the sportsbar area (you know, with the high top tables.)
doesn't matter if they serve alcohol. it matters if their main business is serving alcohol. bowling alleys and comedy clubs serve alcohol but you can carry there. anyways, i'm not sure if you can or not. i know here we're not allowed to carry on a riverboat casino. the casino has to offer you a safe to store it in while you're on board though.
hm..i looked up some stuff, mostly LV stuff came up and said it was ok as long as there was no sign-age.. i guess i can call my local police dept?
ok, case is closed -- I called the tampa bay police dept. not allowed anywhere on the premises, per casino policy.
i'd typically delete the thread after its been answered, but this could serve for future reference.
hehe, I can carry into casinos here. No one has signs.
Meh- Oregon law signs are just suggestions....but all casino's are tribal which means off limits.
its cause its a tribal casino
Not quite there is one casino in Oregon that it's legal to carry in. I can't remember the name, but probably have it filed away. It has to do with them hosting a law enforcement or security conference every year.
Carry your fucking gun.
Mmmmm, I was under the impression since all were tribal land, you needed the chiefs OK to carry.
Well, it has to do with tribal land being a "Sovern Nation" So they can pass rules/laws that they want. And most the casino's in OR say no concealed carry. Whichever casino I'm thinking of hosts a rather large securety conferance every year, ie. makes lots off money off them. So they changed their rules to allow carry. I think it's Canyonville...but don't quote me on it.
Great idea. Carry your gun illegally, accidentally get caught with it, and then lose your permit.
Always a good idea
Or don't carry it, need it, and die.
why would you need it in a casino?
Same reason you'd need it anywhere else.
Dude, if you have to ask this question, you should reevaluate your line of thought for owning firearms at all.
Well, there's a difference. "Not allowed" and illegal are 2 different things. Is it ILLEGAL to carry in the casino? Or, is this the casinos' "rule"?
So you'd rather risk carrying it in the casino and be able to lose your guns for the rest of your life or just take the fucking risk and not carry for the time you're in there?
I've been wanting to find the different penalties for getting caught places you're not allowed.
Someone in the LA forum on GT said it's a felony in all the places.
My concern is places that have signs that say handguns aren't allowed. The only place I've actually seen that sign is Whole Foods. They have a sign on the door saying something like, "It is illegal to carry a handgun into this store"
Oregon law is written so that if you carry in a public place with a no guns allowed sign, they can ask you to leave. Simply carrying isn't illegal but if you refuse to leave then you're trespassing. But yeah casinos are sovreign nations.
