This is reported by Meltzer. He said there were also plenty of bonuses given out.

Really, I am all for fair payment. but unless they start selling UFC size PPV's this is alittle ridiculous

Most of those guys don't deserve anything close to that.

they're paying their fighters well though, eventually more and more people are going to gravitate towards Elite XC and hopefully the UFC will up their payrate for the fighters.

I still want to know why Johnnie Morton was slated to make 100k on the K1 card?

They are going to sign more big names that are obscure to non-"hardcore" mma fans. I bet they are going to pay Soko a shit ton of money and no casual fan in the US knows who he is

Which makes it tough on them because they are going to have a much harder time marketing these guys to casual fans. Which will make it harder to consistently pay big money to free agents.

why question if eliteXC can afford it when they paid barely a fraction of that card?

looks like strikeforce is the one forking over all the cash.

Which also means they only made half the money. And dont forget advertising costs, staff, and the other associated costs

It was a co-promoted card. You think Strikeforce is only going to pay their fighters and half of he bills and not make anything

I was asking how you knew they made half the money when they put up what looks like 80% of the salaries.

was there some special stipulation with the Cung Le fight? Fryklund barely tried to take Cung Le down. :dunno:

if they are paying that much then all the UFC fighters should go there and it will pay off for Elite XC.

Apparently Cung Le was an all american wrestler in high school and was good in college. He was on Beatdown yesterday and sounded like a smart, down to earth guy.

Hard to say, if they pay their guys a base salary and then some of them get a cut of the ppv (i.e. Shamrock) then these figures would mean that they had excellent ppv figures.

They're just really getting started, and in reality they're going to have to throw money at the org to get the fighters (the most important thing) and run things professionally and top-class like the UFC does.

No point doing it on the cheap and expecting to flourish. They have to go all out or they'll be crushed.

Sure they paid heaps for Soko, but the guy is young and clearly talented, so they might have secured a future superstar and he's theirs. Cung Le continues to show the goods too.

That's the kind of $$ that the UFC "should" be paying its fighters... For a company like EliteXC/Strike Force, who probably only sold about 10% (if that) of what the UFC does, they will go the way of the WFA if they keep paying out that kind of cheddah... I know Showtime is big $$, but they execs will quickly lose interest in mma if they keep losing their arses on it...

Keep in mind Strikeforce usually draws a live gate rivaling most UFC's at HP Pavillion, especially with Cung Le and Shamrock on the card. Thats a few million in revenue right there.
