I'm trying to shop for one for a friend of mine for xmas. I'm debating on the Ipod Shuffle 1GB. She mainly wants one she can take to the gym with her, something small and not heavy, but searching around tonight i've stumbled across so many my eyes are going crossed trying to pick one.

If you have a mp3 player and you think it has some good qualities(or bad ones) please let me know :x: . I'd like to get this for her by friday, just so i can get my shopping out of the way. I'm trying to keep the price under 170 if possible. Theres just too many out there now for me to make a straight decision. The one thing i don't like about the ipod shuffle is it doesn't have a screen. Its perfect for her, since its so small, but i think she'd like the ability to scroll through the mp3s to what she wants. but i could just be guessing at that. most of all i'm looking for something thats just really easy to use for her.

thanks so much guys, and merry xmas to ya :wavey:

i got my girlfriend a mobiblu. she wanted an ipod. i told her that her options are limited because she loves going to the gym.
heres why i didn't get the ipod:
    shuffle - i don't think she'd like something without a screen
mini - not available anymore, i love mine, but having a hard drive means she will drop it and destroy it
nano - too fragile, you need to put it in a case before you breathe near it to not scratch it up and some of the screens crack...
ipod photo - too bulky for her and the hard drive problem.

i was going to get her a dell dittu, but i figured i would get her the smallest one possible, which is the mobiblu.

you can only get it through walmart right now and maybe ebay. it's a little bigger than a sugar cube, not too heavy. it comes with a silicone cage that acts as a case for it.

nice little screen, very bright and easy to read, it's the first one to have organic LED screen. built in rechargable battery.
sending files is simple, when you plug it in, it works like a flash drive. it'll also hold other files than music if you need to transfer files that way.
also has a built in fm radio and sound recorder
    comes with nice neckstrap headphones
WOW and SRS built in, plus an adjustable EQ

    things i dont like:
i haven't read the book, so some of these might be solved.
navigation through folders is tough because it only displays 2 items plus a root folder at a time.
i can't figure out how to turn on the shuffle mode
makes a bumping noise when changing to the next song
can't figure out how to play wmas and aac files on it.

i got the 1 gig for about $150 after tax and fast shipping

I would say nano. I have the 30g video ipod and a shuffle, the big one is too much for the gym and the shuffle doesn't hold enough. Nano is perfect.

Black is 1GB holds nearly 700 songs. While the blue is 512mb and holds almost 400 songs. Battery is up to 50 hours. 3 hours of play back on a 3 minute charge also.

unless its an AAA battery (probably a lithium), it wont last 50 hours.

I'm not sure where they come up with the song count for these things... but I guess it's based on 128kbps, 1 minute songs.

I bought my daughter a 2gb Nano for Christmas. teenager, so most of the pop, rap, hip hop stuff so the songs are 4 minutes or so each... encoded at 192kbps for the most part (some I ripped at 320kpbs, without realizing it) and it has 138 songs on it. of the 1.8gb usable space, there is 1gb left. that's about 300 songs total, according to my quick math.

    Creative Muvo Slim 512 MB
    5 band eq
lithium ion battery that recharges when plugged in to your usb port and has a 15-17 hour life...takes about 30 minutes or so to charge
super low distortion (creative is known for this)
    drap+drop file transfer

Small as hell, don't even notice it in your pocket

  12. that's exactly what it is - it charges through USB. I charged it for 3 min and i'm going on nearly 4 hours of playtime (from a totally dead battery). Its the same size as a bic lighter. Easy ass software - drag and drop. its so easy to manage your mp3's.

*i went with the blue one. Only $99 at best buy :coold:

I have the same one, great player... Though I think the standard software sucks, the MP3 file filemanager software is much better (from Sony's Asia support page.)

I just got this. I don't know much about elevtronics, but so far, I like it. I don't think I'll ever worry about it running out of batteries.

One question that I have is where can I get a case for it? I'm thinking about just shoving it into a silicone iPod case or wrapping it in a protective screen.

Have the Rio Carbon and a 3+ yr. old Nitrus that still has great battery life, also solid UI for music management. Had the "Zen Micro" before i bought the Carbon, biggest piece of shit ever.
