can anyone recommend a good receiver with lots of component and hdmi inputs?

    i was going to buy a component switcher for my game systems but i thought it might be better to put that money towards a nice receiver. can anyone recommended me some? i'm hoping for a < $300 range if possible

    I'd save your money for something better. That sony receiver does not upconvert composite/svideo/component --> HDMI. It just switches HDMI so you'd need to run an hdmi and a component video cable to your tv. Also, sony sucks ass at audio. Look into the yamah htr series or a harman kardon receiver for something cheap that atleast upscales analog to hdmi.

    Eh, the Yamaha receivers with hdmi capabilities are going to start around $1000msrp....but you can get a Harman Kardon 247 for $550msrp.

    Now, I'm not a fan of harman kardon receivers, but for the price...and compared to sony...it's your best bet without getting into the $1000 range.
