A&P can anyone recommend a "bridge" camera such as the Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd?

I want to get into shooting, but i don't know if it will be worth it to step up to say a Nikon D40.

    Thoughts?

I have my D40 now for some days and I love it. I stepped up from a point and shoot Sony 717 and the camera is really nice. Still not that really big and bulky feeling but now full control over everything. And all that for a pretty good price.

At that pricepoint, i'd rather get a D40.

just depends on what you want to do. if you aren't really serious, dslr's are a money pit, always needing more accessories and crap.
