Sure, we all have downloaded shit at one time, but it's obvious that it's no different than stealing.

I know of all places, OT has members that will vehemently defend torrents and filesharing, but honestly, how can you?

    I'm not paying $15-20 for a CD.

I'll pay for shirts, concerts, and anything else. But its fucking music. I'm not paying to listen to it.

Movies are a different matter, and I never download them, so I don't care about that.

So don't listen to it at all. Pay to play.

I agree the prices should be lower, but clearly there is demand somewhere.

This shitty part is that torrent sites should just by basic economics drive the cost of CDs up to everyone that does buy them. :hs:

    fucking :werd:

i've brought this subject up 111ty million times. the are thieves, just like the people that steal from wal-mart.

i'll admit to downloading one or two songs every once in awhile, but fuck, having a whole "system" to steal hundreds of albums/movies :wtf:

I buy CDs and DVDs still on occasion. The only part that I don't like is that I haven't bothred to find a program to rip them down as an MP3. I rip them down as a .mwa with Media Player and have to convert them over. It's so damn time consuming to get the shit I paid for onto my mp3 player.

It's not stealing at all. It's unauthorized copying. There's a big difference.

If I steal a CD from Sam Goody, somebody has been deprived of something. Physical property has disappeared and there's a quantifiable loss. When I download an album, nobody is deprived of anything. Nothing is missing. I've simply made a copy without permission.

The vehicle for stealing exists. If trackers were all shut down, you would be much more inclined to by the property, physical or digital - that's a moot point.

Your initiative to pay is completely removed with torrents available and ready to go.

In conclusion, the copyright holder doesn't make the money they should have.
