It's about time I get off my ass and start writing comic books again. Without getting into a whole lot of background, I was a head writer for a comic company that stopped paying it's employees (suffice to say, that company is gone), and that soured me on comics for a long time.
I got back into reading them with the Ultimate universe, and after talking it over with my bro (who is a walking encyclopedia of comics-it is scary how much he knows), I know that DC is trying their own version of the Ultimate universe with All-Stars. The feedback has been somewhat negative-lol.
So, I have written outlines for an Ultimate DC universe (one that SPrime punched into existence) with Nightwing, Batman and Superman.
I would be willing to send someone Issue #1 of Nightwing if you want to draw it, and then it would be posted here for everyone read. Or to point and laugh at.
I really don't care if you are not that talented. I just want a finished posted product so someone from DC can either sue me :noes:or hire me:hsd:.

Well, the All-Star line was explicitly stated by DC as a different line, but not of a continuity; much like saying "it's not like Ultimate." And from what they've written, it's not Ultimate. They're just stories OOC that have high-profile creators working for.

However, on topic, I can't draw. Did you consider storyboarding it first, though? At least you can give a potential drawer an idea of what you're getting at, and maybe get some pre-lims to us all to get the gist of the story!

    sounds interesting
takes me about a day to draw a full 2 page panel (depends on detail) - yeah too long
i'm still trying to 'perfect' my style (cause i'm working on a project of my own)

well, let me take that back. I can draw wicked stick figures. And I'm not being sarcastic. They portray emotions and sensuality and the like. At least that's what my art teacher said. But it's all I draw, and I draw it well! So...given that, I need to assert that I don't have much downtime anymore to do it with classes and work.

I hate storyboarding (mainly because I can't even draw stick figures!). I describe what I want to see in each panel, and let the artist run with it. For example:
Nightwing walks into the 3rd bedroom on the 2nd floor of Wayne manor.
Nightwing: "Bruce, are you playing 'Hide the Pickle' again? You know I don't like that game!"
Now I left out what the room looks like, which way Nightwing is facing, what color the carpets, walls, lights, etc are. I want the artist to express himself as much as possible. I am not Gaiman.

I can draw and I love Nightwing. Send me something and I'll try to send you something. I cannot, however, color.

Yeah, two page spread is a "splash" because it spreads across a medium, which is a pretty literal take on the word.

You know, it would be nice if there was a source for comic lingo to learn from...

    Just a quick update:
I will be posting the script for Nightwing Dark #1 here next weekend. If anyone wants to start drawing some panels, be my guest.
Unless Hurricane Ernesto hits Cape Coral. Then I'm screwed. :noes:
