I went to the bookstore tonight and picked up "The Warrior Elite - The forging of SEAL class 228" and it talks about how BUDS attracts people from all branches..and it refers to one of the guys in the class as "airman"

What i've always heard is....any branch can tryout for Navy SEALs, but if you fail BUD/S, you are stuck in the Navy with some regular MOS.

    no.

    NAVY SEAL

each branch has its own SOF, there's no inbreeding. the any branch thing is confused from GI jane probably. the plot for GI jane wasn't her going through SEALs training but it's not. she was part of a SOF nonexistant program that allowed members of all branches to try out for

Umm...I know. :hahano:I was bringing in my own info. And I read the book. Good stuff. I recommend Dick Couch's new one "Down Range" where he talks about the creation of the McDets.

Oh and for the ladies the answer is no, you can't join any other spec ops. Only Seals :gnd:

GI jane wasn't about BUDS or SQT, demi moore was training in a fictional SOF team that allowed ALL other SOF operators to try out for. during the scenes where they're "training" most of her classmates were already SEALs. it was a movie about a SOF for SOF operators and she was the first female.

Most of the members in the barracks don't fall under Special Operation Forces.

I'm an airman, and I'm neither. Airman just denotes being in the aviation field of the Navy.
