If a woman is breastfeeding/nursing her baby, can she get pregnant? apparently, you cant...is this true? and WHY?

Yes you can get pregnant while nursing. It is less likely, because nursing mothers generally don't have periods so they generally don't ovulate.

I think I heard something like you can use it as a form of birth control only for the first so many months and only if you are breastfeeding solely and not using formula or pumping or anything, so feeding every couple hours and or whatever (I don't know the frequency of these things!!) and all through the night on that same schedule. It sounded tedious.
