My cd/dvd drive has recently stopped working all together. It is a burner also, if that affect it I don't know. My laptop is about 2 years old, and from Gateway. I put a disk in and it will spin, but the computer can't read it. I open the windows explorer and it does not even show that a disk has been inserted. I tried troubleshooting, the device manager says its working properly (fuckin liar) and I tried unintalling and re-installing but that doesn't seem to work :sadwavey: help?

Have you tried more than one CD/DVD to make sure it doesn't read any of them?

    Sure the drives can die...

cd/dvd drives can wear out over time. they are relatively cheap though so just buy a new one.
