thinking about getting a new d80 grip for $100. Is it worth it? Only thing is that it's a grey market good. :o

Or with a flash. Overall I just feel like it's more balanced. When i ordered my D700 I had the grip already added in my head...there was no way I was gonna get it without it.

yeah, that's the word i was looking for, balanced.

and on trips they are great! 10 days in Japan, took about 1500 pics on my heaviest day. never had a problem with power.

I have had my d300 for 2 months and havent gotten a grip yet :/ I am on the fence, 200+ dollars is a lot for something with minimal effect on my skills....I am still on the fence

I will be getting a grip for my 40D, but I just need some extra cash first. They're definitely worth it.

nearly twice the battery life, vertical shooting, better ergonomics

Depends on what I'm doing. I like the vertical shutter and the extra weight/ergonomics, but I take the grip off when I want to travel light.

after having shot with my D80 for almost a year, and knowing from the get go I was going to put a grip on my 300 I can tell you without a doubt it makes a world of difference.

Shooting portraits is so much more natural and easier now. HOLY COW!

I wouldn't shoot without a grip now. I'm very happy I spent the money on the 300's grip.

I had a grip on my d70, I know what its like. But you cant tell me the reasons for paying 250 dollars for a grip for a 1000 dollar camera without sounding like an elitist :big grin:

We will see if I get any cash or amazon cards for my birthday....

If I am satisfied with my d300 now I shouldn't urge myself to spend 250 on a grip haha. Really, I just havent been shooting as much as I would like, thats why I am holding out.

Yup. Besides, Nikon smartened up and made them interchangeable (D300/D700, and D80/90). I can see them being able fit the newer versions of the same camera in the future as well.

 I blame him and he admits to corrupting me below!

All that being said, I am done spending now except for some cheap triggers and mild lighting gear in the future :o

I mainly jumped on the lens because my kit lens is so crapy, and Joey found me that great deal :o
