k, i have a nikon d40. i've been having it for a month now. until friday, i had no problems with it whatsoever. for some reason, my 2gb sd card got corrupted, and i needed a card bad friday to shoot this night club. i needed a quick solution, so i grabbed my 1gb micro sd from my cell phone and used it along with the sd adapter.

    everything worked out fine.

so tonight, i went out to shoot another club with he same card. i took maybe 100 shots and looked back through the pictures. everything was cool. i did however accidentally leave the camera on the 'on' switch for a few hours, but i know it goes to sleep mode after awhile.

so i'm just getting home and when i go to put the card in my computer to extract the photos, NONE of the pictures were there. the last image on the card was the last shot i took on friday.

    WTF?!

what could have possibly caused this? i'm so fucking pissed/stressed at this situation because the photos i took tonight were EXTREMELY important for business matters.

I can think of 2 possibilities:

    1. Did you buy the card on ebay? As I understand it, there's a scam going around about fake SD/CF cards being sold.

    2. Maybe format your card to the camera? :dunno:

#2 sounds more realistic than #1... He said it worked once but not this time..

I say try formatting it for your camera and try again.. Don't shoot anything else important on it though. I've always had slight issues if I put a card in a camera and don't format it in the camera :hs:

Why did your rich white gf buy you a d40?

  5. sounds like a card issue, not a camera issue. i wouldn't worry about it happening again if you just got a brand new card and formatted it on the camera

wait...you could view the most recent photos using the camera but when you went to download them they wouldn't show up on your computer?

the first thing you need to do is get recovery software (free ones work ok but the ones you pay at least $10 for are great) and recover the card. If the photos were truly taken and stored on the card, it *should* recover them. If you had Test Shooting (no card) set to Yes on your camera, you're shit out of luck, especially if you max'd out your card after the first shoot.
