Well I finally got my camera, now I'm looking into getting a backpack that can hold both my camera, lens(s), gear etc. and my laptop. What do you guys use if you went this route?

I'm kind of looking at the Tamrac 5549. Any opinions? :x:

just got it on Christmas, seems great so far. I already had the expedition 5577, so the design is obviously somehting I lide and quality is great. Our laptop is about as big and heavy as they come, a 17" Fujitsu, and it fits.

Thanks! That looks awesome. I was kind of worried about my computer not fitting, but since you can fit your 17" Fuji, I'll have no problem with my Powerbook.

if you're looking to save a couple bucks, check out the naneu pro. made by lowepro and about $50-70 cheaper.

  8. Viper what does it look like when you unzip the big zipper? Also what are the straps like, they look pretty cheap in comparison to the expedition 7's straps :wtc:

Looks like we might be having the same bagS pretty soon :o

The straps definetly aren't the same, which is good and bad. I would have liked to have the same shoulder straps, but minus the hip belt. Its really nice when you need it, as it actually is comftorable and helps, but when you're just walking around or especially on planes it just gets in the way.

that little compartment holder comes out, its on velcro straps in there. Not a ton of room, but enough for a water bottle, some snacks and a hoodie. just depends on how much stuff you carry. Its SAS compatible, so you can still use all Tamrac's accessories all over it too I think

all manufacturers need to do this, its too dman hard to decide on bags and nobody outside of the B/M B&H has them all to choose from.

people bring their stupid fucking dogs everywhere anyways, I might as well bring my cat with me :noes:

seriously I am about to snap with the "dogs" that people bring every where. Service dogs are cool, but dress accessories you have to feed and take for craps aren't when you're at the mall or out to dinner.

Good thread. I think I'm going to go with the Tamrac. It seems like it would suit my needs well. The cat is hilarious.

I got the computrekker aw because i only had to fit an inspiron 8500 (I think- 15.4" WUXGA)- as far as i can tell the only difference between the bag poppoff has is that it's a bit shorter. Weight may be an issue fwiw. With the d80, d70, laptop, flashes, chargers, lenses, etc. The fucking bag weighed more than my checked luggage for 8 days of traveling.

Nice bag but just wondering are the Tamracs weather proof and have those rain covers?

  22. I also have the expedition 7 like viper, it's weather proof and has the little flaps that cover your zippers so no water leaks in, these little flaps are kind of annoying if you're trying to zip your bag in a hurry cuz they always get caught in the zipper but luckily the zippers and the flaps are very durable so it never messes anything up. I don't think the expedition 7 has a rain cover, I never saw one :o But I'm sure tamron makes a rain cover for the expedition 7 and you can probably have one for the fair price of 11dybillion..

Heres some pics of mine, only thing missing is the waist strap, which is removable, it's comfortable enough just with the chest strap on. Yeah it's pretty much the biggest bag lowepro makes, but i don't mind lugging it around, I wore it around all day at a go kart event and barley even noticed its there it was so comfortable.

Now that I got the D2H on the way this is the bag I will prolly be getting. Do you fly very much with yours? I'm curious as to how it will fit into the smaller overhead bins, as I refuse to check my laptop/camera gear.
