Went as well as I could have hoped. Woke up this morning and dad opened with "Your mothers a bit concerned, she found gay stuff on the computer ... are you gay?".
At the time I thought 'Well there's no way out of this one, might as well tell them'. So yeah it was ok, got all the standards - "Are you sure?", "How do you know? "Had any experiences?".
At the end he just said "If you're ok, we can accept it, don't feel bad or be stressed on our account". Wasn't planning on telling them but still I guess we'll find out if it's better they know, still feels kind of sickly arkwad

Kind of a weird way to ask, but it's great that they are so cool with it.

    cool about your parents reaction.

It could have gone WAY worse. I'm glad that they accepted the news and didn't throw you out of the house or didn't beat you... or didn't sit and cry for two months (like my mom).

So, yeah, I think that's a great start.

    Congratulations on coming out!

Thanks all, I knew it could have gone way worse so I'm glad with how it turned out, I never got the feeling that'd take it really badly, yet still avoided bringing it out since haven't had any experiences/ b/f's, etc. But yeah they had to find out someway I guess I'm glad it's over. Had alot of personal problems that I couldn't really get into with them without telling them about being gay so this is a good step in the right direction.

    (PS. I'm 22 & live in Australia)

I remember I used to format and use all those free floppies that came in the mail nearly daily! Prodigy, Juno, AOL, Earthlink, etc. I remember when we upgraded from a 14.4 modem to 38.8 then 56.6! lawls

i accidentally bought a 56k modem from AOL way back when.. it was external - and cost like $250

when AOL had those "pop up" ads when you first logged on, all you had to do was click "buy" and it charged your account immediately lawls

my dad was lazy and never returned it

Good to hear it well. My Dad found the same stuff while I was around 18 and didnt say anything. It was Mom snooping a few years later that busted me. Went about the same though.

Good job on the hardest one to deal with. The rest are a lot easier.

Viruses, thats a good one, here I thought there was no way out of it :). I'm still worried about what my mum actually saw, was it pictures or movies, did she just see the thumbnails or open some? Glad I'm not a fetish guy :ugh:

I left KY on the desk once :hs:

Update: Both parents came in to talk to me this morning, every things fine. Basically said it's up to me if I want the family to know. But yeah basically I'm still Steven to them and they want me to be happy so yay :) One concern they had was maybe I was attracted to children, because I rent alot of disturbing foreign/art house films with really out there content.
I just sort of laughed and said 'No, I just like disturbing stuff, nothing sexual about it'. But yeah they said they glad they knew and felt sorry I went through all this turmoil and isolation for so long and it explains alot of why I've been depressed (which is does). So yeah I'm happy this happened.
Lol, they also said they were surprised because I don't fit any stereotypes since the only gay people they know are the ones on TV. I'm quite a slob and buy my clothes from K-mart :)

Which reminds me - does anyone collect the Physique Photos? The vintage ones by Bob Mizer, Don Whitman and the like? They sell them on Ebay for a crapload of money!

The dog knocked over the bin for food that was in there, and of course they just had to read it :ugh: (I have major issues with my privacy and them prying into my life). This is like the 100th the dog had done it so while I'm talking to them he's sitting next to me so I'm like 'if you don't get this dog away from me I'm seriously going to kill him'.
I was really on edge after coming home since mum called me up earlier that night bawling her eyes out because on her ebay account it said I bought snuff films, they were called snuff films but I knew they were in fact fake. So in 2 days they were hit with - Gay, Going to Adults Stores at mid night by myself and buying snuff films on the net. Also went to the doctor bout anal bleeding not too long ago and they were afraid I had tried something and hurt myself
So yeah bunch of random things all looking worse than they actually were at once caused mini freak-out and pissed me off. And of course this had to happen on the night I'm hanging out with a guy I'm in love with and can never have, while receiving text messages from my friend about cutting/killing herself
