Been thinking about this one for the better part of two years and finally sacked up and made the appointments. I had this done by Steve Morris of Bodyworks Tattoo in Pittsburgh (Penn Hills to be exact).

    www.myspace.com/stevemorristattoo
http://www.bodyworks-tattoo.com/ (The shop itself, this showcases Don McDonald)

I went in on Jan 20th, we did I believe 4 hours. He charges $125 an hour.

    The strips:

    The tattoo:

Obviously, it isn't finished yet. Most of the outlines are done, however, the ones concerning the actual comic on my hamstring/rear quad will be retraced in black to make them thicker and more bold. I go in on Feb 17th to get the rest of it colored in. He said that due to the colors and my pale skin, he feels it best to put at least one more layer of color on top of what he's already drawn for vibrancy and longevity of the colors. Depending on how it looks when I go for my final appt in March, we may go with 3 coats.

    Reasoning:
    1) I thought it would make a very cool and very different tattoo than one normally sees.
    2) Been a long time C&H fan.
    3) Who doesn't, as a child, love fighters and dinosaurs. Together = perfect
    4) the block w/ the "this is so cool" and "this is so stupid" fits the theme perfectly

    Future work:
I'm looking at having this M.C. Escher piece, House of Stairs / Treppenhaus done on the opposite leg, as an entire sleeve from hip to ankle. I'm looking at having it done this fall by Don, one of the other artists at Bodyworks. I think it'll fit great as a contrast to the C&H piece due to it's entirely different art perspective and brings further meaning to the whole "this is so cool/stupid" concept.

I love how it's coming along, but truth be told, i'm much more excited about seeing the escher piece coming to fruition

I have a C&H tattoo in the planning stages right now as well... I just have to work it into the rest of the sleeve somehow.

Jesus! are we having like an invasion of C&H tattoos? I was just revising which design I was going to do today.

And I can't wait to see it finished, so much detail

I think I just found my artist for my next piece...your work is excellent. I checked out his myspace page, and am amazed by his talent. Glad to find someone so talented in Pittsburgh.

He works Tues/Thurs/Sat. Getting in for a consultation took me about 3 weeks due to him mainly being available on T/Th. Generally the wait is somewhere in the 1.5 month area for midweek dates and 2-3 months for Saturdays.
