as everyone knows, being from commiefornia and being conservative sucks ass....especially if you are a gun owner. Anyways....they came out with a 50BMG alternative called the .510DTC Europ or something like that....does anyone know anything about it? is it worth it?

Come to think about it, I haven't seen the exact wording of the law, I'm gonna look that up.

Or if you have an AR already, you could just order a .50BMG Upper.

That round isnt .510 in caliber, just a different name for it. Anything over .500 is a destructive device.

And ya, order a .50BMG upper if you want to go to jail. The only way to get around that was if you have an ar15 already registered as an assault weapon.

its defined as something that shoots a .50 bmg cartridge

anything .50 BMG and above is considerd an assault weapon....but the new .510DTC round is being called a ".499BMG" because its only 100/1000ths of an inch shorter than teh 50BMG....if they made a ".499 BMG" of 510 DTC upper for the AR i will just get that cause i already have an AR because ive seen an AR with a 50BMG upper a lot

Eh no? a firearm with a bore (other than shotty) above .500 is a destructive device.

Wonder how much those rounds are going to cost? Its pretty cool though, .50 BMG wont chamber in that chamber and vice versa.

Dude, you already have an Ar15, is it registered an an assault weapon in CA? If so, you should be able to purchase a .50 BMG upper.

If a .50 BMG rifle is already registered as an assault weapon, does it need to be registered under the provisions of the .50 Caliber BMG Regulation Act of 2004?

.50 BMG rifles already registered as assault weapons pursuant to the assault weapons laws in effect prior to January 1, 2005 DO NOT need to be registered again to satisfy the requirements of the .50 Caliber BMG Regulation Act of 2004.

his AR15 is a california legal neutered AR with a 10 round fixed mag. see how his takedown pins have a ring on it to make it easy to pull apart to load? it also has a fixed muzzle brake and a fixed stock.

Some are pinned so you can put a real mag in if you move to a real state, others have internal mag built into magwell either way :greddy:

yea, of course you could, but his AR isn't an assault weapon. it's just like a regular rifle.

there's a loophole in the california law right now, where you can buy certain brands of stripped AR lowers from another state and have it shipped in. for now, you can't have a pistol grip on it, so you can't build on it, but once they fix the loophole (very soon), and ban those lowers, everyone who bought one during the loophole will be legally allowed to register it as an assault weapon, allowing them to put whatever they want on it (pisol grip, removable mag, flash hider, collapsible stock).

the lowers are about 200 now for a stripped one, but they're damn near impossible to find since everyone in cali is buyin them up.

its a queer AR-15...i still have the socom16 and i can get 20 round mag for that...after thinking about it i wouldnt want an ar15 with a .50BMG upper anyways...might as well pay about 400 more and get a serbu50BFG...you guys dont even know how stupid it is living in california...there is a rumor now that they wanna ban semi auto rifles limiting people to only bolt action or single shot but thatll never pass....but whatever i have im still content i guess but im still gonna expand

http://www.edmarms.com/products/510dtc.htmApproximately five years ago due to similar laws in Europe, Mr. Eric Danis, owner of Dan Tec France, of France developed the 510 DTC EUROP .50 caliber cartridge which will be chambered by EDM ARMS in their model 96 and 99 bolt-action “WINDRUNNER” tactical, lightweight, takedown rifles in 2005. The 510 DTC EUROP cartridge was discussed in the 2000-1 FCSA High Power magazine as being comparable to the .50 BMG cartridge for 1000 yard match competition. The 510 DTC EUROP is made by fire forming a .50 BMG case in the 510 DTC EUROP chamber. The 510 DTC EUROP case is .100 of an inch shorter than the .50 BMG case, and has an 18-½ degree shoulder compared to the BMG’s 15-degree shoulder. The 510 DTC EUROP case measures .760 diameter at the top of the shoulder compared to the BMG’s measurement of .715 inch. The 510 DTC EUROP cartridge utilizes a .510-inch diameter projectile such as the Hornady 750 grain A-MAX. The 510 DTC EUROP case has the same volume of powder capacity as the .50 BMG and has 1000-yard accuracy comparable to the BMG. Simply stated, the 510 DTC EUROP is slightly fatter, straighter, steeper, and shorter than the BMG. Importantly, the .50 BMG cartridge will not chamber in the 510 DTC EUROP chamber and conversely, the 510 DTC EUROP will not chamber in the BMG chamber.
The 510 DTC EUROP is California legal and reloading dies and chamber reamers are currently available from several U.S. manufacturers including C-H Tool & Die Co., JGS Precision Tool MFG., and Dave Manson Precision Reamers.
The 510 DTC EUROP cartridge will prove to be invaluable in California and other states where the BMG becomes illegal. EDM ARMS thanks to Mr. Danis for his international contribution! WARNING!! The 510 DTTC EUROP cartridge is not for "GIRLIE MEN" or "TERMINATORS"!!
