So, I finally got my AFOQT scores back and I was wondering what a good number is to be competetive for a pilot or nav slot. My pilot was a 77 and my nav was a 68. would I stand a good chance of a selection?

Oh man, a 77 and a 68, that blows pretty bad. Did you take the test with your eyes closed? I mean come on, you were breathing right? Did the test proctor laugh at your test?

BTW, I am just kidding, I have no clue.

Below average, but not by much. Here is a list of avg, high, and low scores on various things of pilot selects who got UPT allocations, courtesy of wantscheck.com.

    Average High Low
    PCSM 81 99 5
    GPA 3.24 4.00 2.00
    AFOQT Pilot 83 99 27
    AFOQT Navigator 77 99 21
    AFOQT Verbal 64 99 17
    AFOQT Quantitative 66 99 15
    AFOQT Academic Aptitude 68 99 0
    Flight Hours 189 6000 0
    Age 23 35 19

AFOQT is only one part of the selection process, so it doesn't make much sense to speculate based on that. You should know that already, though.

    BTW I got 94/94 pilot/nav

with some selections being based off of close to the bare minimum or 20 I'd hope so. I know that there are other things that play into it I was just curious what was typical.

NAV was my lowest score. My dad who spent 20 years enlisted thinks I might be overqualified to be an officer.*pick a smiley to go here* Maybe a mod will choose the smiley for me.:noes:

EDIT: I dunno what I want to do in the Air Force at the moment. I was hoping to score high enough to be competetive for almost anything for when I finally nailed down my dream sheet. At first I wanted to be an EWO but from what I've heard they have limited employment when they separate.

and Jyokker: it's a percentile based test and the highest score is 99 for any one area. That means that 22 percent of the poor sobs who took this test scored higher on the pilot section. I wouldn't wish this test upon anybody. About three hours of testing is not fun. If you really want to be scared about something, the only two sections that need to be passed are verbal with a score of 15 and quantitative with a score of 10.

I know one officer who was scoring 3's and 4's.

She had a waiver to take it a third time (2 time max, ever, is the norm) -- she is an AF nurse.

I remember that story. I don't know how somebody doesn't pass the AFOQT. They were having a helluva time finding my scores too.

This link is useful if you need them again, for whatever reason.
