Don't say ebay, cause I wont use it (previous issues with there customer service, so they no longer get to collect my fees)

found http://www.gadgetinfinity.com/, but it ships from hong kong (read something on dpreview.com about being a good place to order from, with reasonable shipping times)

Im shooting a friend of my sisters senior pictures soon (no date set yet) but I think having my flash mounted on my tripod off to the side would be very beneficial (just doing outdoor shots, so the flash with be fill light)

    1. Cactus triggers are pure garbage, I wouldn't even bother buying them.

    2. You can get them from http://www.mpex.com.

Don't get them from mpex... I know it's a website that strobist supports, but 1. They order them from GadgetInfinity, 2. I think they are a few dollars more expensive and the shipping is a little more (even though it's in the states... :dunno: ) and 3. I haven't heard very good things about their inventory and customer service, though that may have changed.

I got mine straight from Gadgetinfinity.com and didn't pay for the extra FedEx shipping.. Mine were delievered 4 days after I ordered them. :dunno:

Edit: Nevermind about #2.. GI is a few dollars more than Mpex. :o

I have a transmitter and 3 receivers; I've only used one of them so I could sell you mine if you're interested

I'm using a Canon ST-E2 so I don't really need the wireless triggers since the infrared set up works fine for me.

If you get the triggers, you'll want to replace the batteries they come with. These are usually the cause of the misfires.

I'm a little skeptical on mpex, this is for 1 receiver and 1 transmitter right? I wish it had a description.

    http://www.mpex.com/browse.cfm/4,514.html

Last time I ordered something from hong kong, it took over 2 weeks to get here (not through GI though)

I have 1tx and 2 modded rx and 1 standard rx. They're V2s, which means they don't work well with the 430 or 580ex model flash units. But from my own results I have 1 V2s that will work with 430ex without any issues. That one I just colored in the "s" in V2s.

I've replaced them with Radio Poppers, and have no idea why I've kept them around for so long.

    PM offer.

    I forgot I had a third rx(not shown).

I just got my GI Cactus V2S... didn't work. I think the bloody idiots left it on "on" (receiver) the entire time. So no more battery.

Where do you get the AA holders? My batteries died on my receivers so what better time to do the mod.

yes, they are out of stock quite frequently, but the customer service complaint is BS. They have excellent customer service as long as you pay attention and contact the right department. Most the people on flickr are to stupid to see if they have a shipping concern, they need to contact mike in the shipping department, not send an email to their generic [email protected] email. Also, they've added like 3 people to their staff that handle nothing but internet orders, and Moishe(the owner Stu's son) is taking a much more hands on approach. Also, if you're stateside, the best way to process and order, as well as get status on it is to call the shop.

Oh, cool. Glad to know that the customer service isn't as bad as I thought it was. The only time I had ever needed help, I contacted Moishe directly so I got quick responses, but I never bought anything.
