Most people I see lean forward at the start and lean back at the end. Is this correct? The .gif on exrx.net does this too, but he doesn't always have good form.

It seems like good form would involve moving your arms only, not your torso. When you move your torso, aren't you just adding momentum to the weight, making it easier? (Like when someone sways back and forth curling a barbell.)

good form is not moving anything but your arms & very minimal body. you shouldn't be leaning foward.

the thing i miss most about not going to a gym thats not in my basement is cable low row's :(

moving your body but not using it for momentum will give you a better ROM.

so will touching your toes & pulling it all the way & laying down wtih it.. but it's still a lat movement that you don't need to really bend for :dunno:

no, actually if you were to lay all the way back you would be doing upright rows, so actually that wouldnt give you a good ROM. if you lean far forward and then while you are doing a smooth controlled lean back until upright while pulling elbows back and hands to chest you will be getting maximum ROM.

I think the rear delts will get "hit" if you have a wide grip, overhand grip, pulling it high (the bar to your upper rib cage). With a narrow grip... it should involve the rear delts...

Any pulling movement if done right will hit the rear delts. Ryzabeck has the form right. You DONT do cable rows to hit your fucking lats either sicklife.

You can't have big lats without the pulldowns

the MAIN purpose of a seated cable row with a close grip cable is to build thickness in the back not to make giant wings. Of course its going to involve the lats but if you do it right you should feel it in your lower traps and inner mid back area.

a lean fw is good movement to stretch the inner trap muscles. im not talking about riding on a crew team, im talking a lean to feel the stretch

The idiot sticker on the machine from my gym shows a slight lean forward (45deg) and finish at 90deg.

You want to be 90 degree angle to the bench when you pull with your arms. One reason people will lean forward at the beginning of the pull is to relieve stress on their lower back....
