    :o

I have an arsenal refurb 91/30, I want to naively assume that everything is Kosher (well, I'm going to take it apart and clean and oil it). I'm debating whether I should drop $60 for GO/NO GO gauges and that sort of crap.

    Anyone?

Mine worked fine but the bolt is a bitch to work after I fire it.

Mine stiffened up after a few shots the first time I fired it also. I think maybe I missed some cosmoline and it started to gunk things up, I cleaned it after its first range trip and it hasnt been a problem since.

I hope the cosmo is out of mine, since it's rearsenaled it just seems to have a lot of oil oil in the action.

My m44 was packed with so much cosmo it still seeped out after shooting it for several range trips :mamoru: I cleaned it real good many times too, I think the only way to get it all off the first time is to power wash it with mineral spirits.

How many rounds did you run through it when you went to the range? I have not shot anything except shotguns in years and am trying to figure out how much shit to bring with me when i go.

I usually bring several guns with me when I goto the range, I kinda neglect my bolts :o I usually put maybe 20 rounds through each. Once I make one of them a sniper clone it'll see a little more range action.

Mine definately isn't a case of cosmoline gunking it up. The gun was pretty clean when I bought it. I've only taken it out once, though, so maybe it will work better next time. I'd like to say it's partly the ammo's fault, too.

The Mosin is the only shootable thing I have right now (unless I discover a case of .32 rimfire) so I'll probably try running 100 rounds through it. If my shoulder can take it :o

Might want to consider a pad for it, 20 rounds doesn't really bother me that badly but 100 rounds I might want one :o I think the most I ever put through one in a single range trip was about 50 rounds when I first got one, wasnt that bad either but it was cold out and I had a heavy jacket on.

How can I do that, thinking about the proud Soviet infantrymen who ran hundreds of rounds through these things in threadbare, worn out shirts, and who had no food and thus no fat on their shoulders to take the shock?

No, I will put some brass tacks on the buttplate and suffer in the name of the poor Russian peasants!

I had my nagant sandblasted. Then polished the bolt and coated it with a moly gunoil.
Thing works slicker than snot. :)

(now I just have to finish sanding and coating the stock that FINALLY showed up for it)

Oh I have a bunch of pics, they just aren't flattering ones. When I got the thing from Rich's it was a nightmare. I have been working on getting it into shape every night for the last week. :) Should have some this weekend though that I will share. Verm better appreciate the damn headache this has been.

    (ok, here's a teaser)
