C++ compiler

    whats the best compiler to learn C++ on? i know theres Eclipse that works awesome for Java but is there something like that (awesome debugging) for the c++ language? Thanks OT!

    I've never used emacs but from what I know, it's more of an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) then a straight compiler. If you are looking for one of those, there are plenty. Microsoft has one, Borland and a few other companies. I think there is even a free one bundled with many linux distros.

    I don't use IDEs tho. I prefer old school text editor. However, as I transition from University to work, I'm sure I'll have to use IDEs more. Linux also comes with the gnu compiler and most distros have that bundled with them.

    I think you mean eclipse, not emacs ;)

    Or maybe you do mean emacs, emacs is many things..


    I generally use the kate text editor and GCC/G++, but this is on a GNU/Linux box..

    hum yea well I once had problems with certain libraries on dev and not on codeblock.

    They both need updates.
