God damn that background is ruining my eyes. And I have no idea why you took that photo.
Im in the oilfield so it symbolizes alot of what I have done in my career.
Find a less distracting background and or get some faster glass.
Either find a different background or at least put some light between the subject and the background so you can separate the two so it's easier on the eyes.
It would also look nice if you included the whole shadow in the frame as well...
yep, thats a black and white photo
Thanx guys. yall have helped me alot.
Sorry brosef, but it's not doing anything for me
Composition is boring, place the pipe farther to the right so the shadow is in the frame as well. That will take care of the dead space and make the shot more interesting.
Shadow bugs me, instead of standing out... the pipes blend into the back ground, the light on the pipes doesn't look right, and the picture is too centered.
i wouldn't put the subject right in the center of the frame. along with the other comments, if this thing is a big part of your life, why not photograph it in use? i have no idea what this is or what your relationship is with it, so show us. give it something/someone to have a relationship with in the photo.
and why the decision to make it black and white? for me, black and white photos are most powerful with intense lighting, so the highlights and shadows become important.
