Hey OTAP crew, I've been working on my editing/post processing skills lately to supplement my newbie photography skills. Here are my latest edits. any C&C would be appreciated as well as advice on how to make better.

#1 The picture looked a little soft on contrast. The background and skintones blended together as well. I had to adjust the colors and manually isolate the background from the subject. I think the final result turned out great.

#2 This was a bit challenging to edit - as the background, skintones, and eyes all had to be manually edited and separated then combined into one Image, as well as cropped in a bit.

BADLY blown highlights. BTW, don't try learning proper editing by using bad photos. Garbage in = garbage out.

In #2, the white part of her eyes is still blue. Fix that.

    horribly blown highlights

    white balance is way off

by the way, these are bad pictures. so you're not going to get good results with any PP.

Oversharpening never improves a portrait, in my view. Lighting done right in the beginning is your friend!

I wish more people would think about doing what i did

one year taking pictures editing them as little as possible and no cropping allowed..that will do WONDERS for your photography

I'm actually trying to do that now.
    Shooting "as is"...

It was a 2 sided coin for me... I don't want to rely on PP and I also happen to suck at Photoshop :mamoru:

it's not a WB issue.. it's a color cast issue from the blue paper. since the flash is higher, firing downwards, and she's leaning forward, it's giving an awful color cast. It can be fixed in post, but it's a bitch... only way I can think to prevent it would be to use a gobo

this stuff is piece of piss
2 masks and 2 adjustment layers (selective colour and levels)

18andlife: the midtones in your image are muddy, contrast is a little low and the skin tone holds a lot of black
