I was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed here in England at the weekend. The main even of the Festival is a 1.6 mile hill climb where all kinds of cars blast it up this hill. It's great for getting photos - no fences :)

This was my first try with motorsport photography and panning shots. I'm really happy with this one of the legendary Sir Stirling Moss. I love his facial expression and the 1954 Mercedes Benz is just an awesome, awesome car.

I think my DOF could have been larger to get the front of the car as sharp as the back. Also I know my crop might not be to everyones tastes. How did I do?

    Edit: Taken on Nikon D40 with a Nikkor 55-200 f/4-5.6 at 95mm, f/8, 1/100.

Not a fan of the classics eh? Not sure what you mean by everything has to start somewhere, but Moss in this car >>>>>>>> anyone in an SL 65.

But anyway, this is A&P, what about the photo?

Yeah I saw your thread. Your first one in that thread is a good save of a photo that's not so great, but I don't like them here. I really like the smoothness of the photo straight from the camera; it gives the car speed and shows it off.

Those presets have lost the crispness and are a bit harsh on the high contrast for a classic car imo.
