Shot these with the Nikon 55-200 VR. It's just a glorified kit lens, but I don't have the money to step up to whatever is next... 80-200 maybe?

Anyway, this whore of a lens was shooting bluish all damn day. Even fixing the white balance, the shadows still have a blue tint to them. If anyone can help me out with "why" and "how to fix them" I would love you long time.

w/b issues are easily diffused by throwing it into Live View, and changing the kelvin and watching it on screen to your liking.

decent shots... looks to me they might need more contrast, and they're a little flat.

do you think a polarizer would have helped a great deal?

I think so, yes. But you don't need a polarizer to achieve that... just bump the contrast in LR and saturate a little more.

Might be my monitor, but a lot of them look a little hot. Not enough to show clipping on a histogram I'm sure, but if you really want to make skies deep deep blue, slightly underexposing will do that for you. (or even better, cokin holder and GDs)

I like all but the DC skyline, they are just boring.

Getting better, and get that lift out of there boss.

I want to move into George Washingtons little house. That would be cool.

i think that might have to be my next purchase

George's house was down at Mount Vernon. It's actually big as hell. When he inherited it, it was half the size. The crazy guy doubled the size of it by adding additions everywhere. Very interesting house to tour.

Nice shots. Just down the street from my house, lulz. I've been wanting to get epic Iwo Jima shots when we get a rare awesome sunset.

i believe you can. i saw some bad examples with a quick search on google, but i'd imagine with a few minutes of thinking you can do it. i have a friend that lives in one of those apartments that overlooks the statue and DC skyline. he may or may not still live there, don't really keep in contact.

fun area to shoot in though.
