I finally got some film processed and figured I would come here to get torn to shreds :big grin:

Does anybody know what might cause these color lines straight through the image like that? It happened somewhere in pp and only after I scanned in a higher resolution...

probably an issue with the scanner itself...

Can't say i'm overall impressed with the composition, but your white balance is way off.

There's a lot of noise in these images as well; what ISO were you using? if it's not from the film, then your scanner seems to have issues.

Reminds me of when I first got my 50, "whoa DOF", but nothing of substance. Keep shooting.

Did you not get them processed to negatives + CD? That's the best way to go since the lab will have a much better film scanner than you do.

How are you liking using an SLR after limping along with a P&S? :) It makes me really really REALLY want a DSLR.

I'm just getting the film processed and using my own scanner. Everywhere charges 3 or 4 bucks for the 2 cent cd and I have the equipment so I save the few bucks to do it myself...

Way better, but looks washed out, like it was overexposed a third to half stop. That's easy to correct with levels.

Well the setting you need is going to change depending on the light, which changes daily, hourly, and sometimes minute-to-minute. Use the camera's metering system instead of guessing in manual mode, despite what some photography teacher from the Cretaceous era may have taught you, it's there for a reason.

Overexposure is not the worst thing in the world with film, it can give you more contrast and saturation, but you still have to correct it in post.

you fixed the w/b on the first one, which is good. you still need to tinker with curves/levels/contrast a bit to make it pop, but the subject is what fails.

The kid, you need to crop out the random bra-less tit on the right side. so you're gonna want to bring it in tighter, then clone out the remainder of her arm in the background.

Here's a quick re-working... could have done a better job on cloning out godzilla's tit, but hey, this is just an example.
