I just bought a new house with a old Dish in the back yard. i have a old reciever someone gave me also. are these things still working? can i use it if i figure out how to hook it up?

There use to be some kind of liscence thing you had to buy for them or something every few months to get feed. Is it still like that and if so where would i get it?

or should i look for a hack or something for the reciever? :hs:

yes they still work. The satellites are still in orbit dropping signals on us every day. Yes, you can still use the system ifyou can get everything to work. You need to make sure the actuator and motor still work on the dish, so it can reposition. Otherwist, you have an 8' leaf catcher.

Check out Orbit magazine ( http://www.orbitmagazine.com/ ) for info on C-bands, and what programming options are available. There are a lot of "wild" signals that you can receive for free. But, for your receiver to allow certain pay channels y ou will need subscriptions or to hack
