I flew from Tampa, FL to my home base in central CA today on a C-9B Skytrain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_C-9) and since I never check my camera and the flight was pretty long, I asked if they'd let me sit in the jump seat and try some in flight cockpit shots. First time doing this so I had to play with settings for a bit before I could get the exterior and interior exposures to work. The pilots were really cool and didn't mind me flashing away like a madman for awhile :o

Gear used was a 20D, Tamron 17-50, and 430EX w/ Stofen. C&C is appreciated, PP on these was done on the airplane right after I shot them. I've realized that my laptop screen settings don't match what I see on my desktop, so let me know what you think.

And the last one is just because it's cool. We were cruising at 34,000ft here and you can see how far above us this guy was :coold:

The last one was pure luck. That guy was coming so fast that I hadn't even noticed him but at the time my pilot was scanning his instruments looking for other airplanes in our area for me. He saw him on one of his displays, pointed him out and I had about two seconds to point the camera and shoot before he was gone from view in that window.

I often find myself just taking several shots when I need an ultra-wide and stitching them together later.

Yeah I just make a big canvas and start merging the photos together. You can always try photomerge or some other third party program.

crazy how small the windows are on large aircraft, guess most flying is down via electronics then by sight nowadays
