Suits typically have a 6 inch drop from chest to waist. Meaning if, Like me, you have a 46 inch chest and a 34 inch waist, you are SOL. The Men’s Warehouse sells separates in exactly 2 colors, Black and Grey. Does anyone know of a place that is more flexible when it comes to sizing or has more of a separates selection?

my calven klein worked out well. i got it from macy's. & they had the jackets on one side of the rack & the pants that matched on the other, & you could mix & match which was the one you needed.

$700 is definitely more than I want to spend. I bought one of the black separates from the Mens Warehouse for $300, but unless I plan to wear a drab grey, Ill have to look elsewhere.

I buy all my suits either from Neiman Marcus or Hugo Boss...they tailor it for me right there...

but thats only if you're looking to spend 1000-1500 a piece

most places have athletic cut which I was told was 10" from chest to waste. Im over 20 difference at show time and I still find a suit so its shouldnt be hard for you

im not sure i understand your question, are you saying thats beyond the limits of tailoring, or that you expect it to fit right off the rack?

get it tailored, i cant imagine finding a suit that would fit halfway decent with no alteration whatsoever.

btw, im not being a suit snob here. Geting minor alterations is commonly done and is reasonably priced.

I was in NY last year for a wedding and left my suit at home cause of the mild retardation I suffered in having to pack and spend time with my family pre-trip.... anyway, I went to this massive place that just sells suits for a decent prices, cant remember the name though:(
A sales guy took me to the athletic suit area and I was able to get a Hugo Boss suit with my measurements at the time of 46-48 chest and 31 waist which he said would be very difficult to find. He had to alter the pants a bit, but otherwise the suit was perfect.

I truely don't see how. If I get pants to fit my waist then they look like they were painted on.

all the rented shit I ever got had wratchet waists that pulled in, worked fine for me. I had to get a large waist pant to fit the legs anyhow.

Get pants to fit your legs then have the waist taken in. I did it with a suit and I have done it with 2 pairs of jeans.
I get a 34 pant, or a 36 sometimes depending, then have the tailor take it in to a 31 or so. Tailor costs like 5 bucks.

can someone explain this "drop" to a suit noobie? Once I get my digital camera, I plan on posting pics of myself in my Hugo Boss suit. I think its too big, but it might just be that I'm not used to suits.

The waste line compared to the chest measurement.
